Psalm 52
December 28, 2025
Great and Awesome God,
How much of our weeks are spent hearing the praises of wicked people.
How often do we hear their boasting and lying
How common is it for the wicked to go free or get lenient sentences.
Meanwhile, the poor and destitute are devoured
The righteous are snatched and uprooted
The ignorant are deceived and led astray
LORD, in these moments, train our hearts to remember: Vengeance is Mine … I will repay says the LORD … I will make all things right! My steadfast love has not ceased, but endures all day and forever!
A day is coming where your justice will be done, God will break you LIARS down forever; he will snatch and tear the UNJUST from their tents; he will uproot the THIEVES from the land of the living.
MEANWHILE, WE shall see and fear, and shall laugh at them, saying, 7 “See the man who would not make God his refuge, but trusted in the abundance of his riches and sought refuge in his own destruction!”
He mocked those who pursued justice and righteousness, sanctification and redemption and NOW HE IS HELD IN DERISION
Lord, we praise your justice, that amidst all the sayings of the godless and those who use your name in vain to advance their own purposes, you are not fooled by them.
Your winnowing fork is in your hand, the axe is at the very root of their lives and you will cut them down and burn them forever.
Meanwhile, as we dwell securely in Christ, we are like evergreen trees — basking in and nourished by your steadfast, unfailing love.
Oh Lord, as we endure this wicked world as sojourners, foreigners, and pilgrims, help us by your Spirit’s power to patiently wait for your name for it is good.
We pray this in the name of King Jesus and all God’s people said: Amen.
