Psalm 33
June 8, 2025 Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
From our limited vantage point, we cannot begin to grasp the vastness of the universe—nor can we fully comprehend the eternal fellowship of love and communion you share. Yet by sight and faith, we hold these realities to be foundational and true.
In your kingdom, all creation obeys your every command and stands in awe of your majesty. In your wisdom, you spoke into existence the world we inhabit—and even more wondrously, you spoke life into the darkness. In doing so, you revealed your grandeur, your abundance, your steadfast love, and your desire for intimate communion with us. You are the wisest, most glorious Being in the universe. And astonishingly, you entrust us with the care of this world, calling us to nurture it so that it may flourish—for your joy and for our pleasure.
Even more, you desire to reign supremely with us—not as a distant ruler, but as the One worthy of recognition, honor, and praise.
Yet in contrast, we come to this service weary—carrying burdens, distractions, and attitudes that betray a lack of communion with you. We admit, sometimes we take for granted the gifts you’ve given. At our worst, we harbor thoughts or commit actions that harm those we love, seeking our own gain above your will.
This Psalm reminds us that you see all—great or small, powerful or puny. To you, position and status are irrelevant. You search us to the core. And though we strive and plan, leaning on our own strength, resources, and power none of these things can fulfill the deepest desires of our souls.
You alone are worthy of our trust. You alone have an eternal perspective, infinite experience, and perfect wisdom. The insight and power you bring to bear on the affairs of humanity far exceed what we could ever produce—even collectively. Oh, that we at Centennial would grasp these truths deeply—and come to treasure your instruction as our most precious gift.
Were it not for you, where could we turn? You alone rescue our souls. You have the recipe to make us fully alive and start us on the path to living eternally. Teach us, even now, to fear you rightly—to trust your love, to wait upon your mercy. Extend your hand to help us. Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us, even as we hope in you.
Make our hearts glad in you. Let us be truly content—satisfied in your righteousness, your justice, and your unfailing love, which fills the earth.
We pray all this in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
