Psalm 20

John Chamberlain   -

May 18, 2025 Heavenly Father, Son and Holy Spirit,

We thank you for the truth found in your word and how practical it becomes in our

everyday lives. When people were looking for protection for King David as he was

heading into battle, they knew they could trust you to provide protection. Because of the

multiple examples of David bringing his problems before You, the people learned they

could trust you to come through as well. Today, because of the preservation of your living

word, we too can see how you have been protecting your people and your church

throughout history.

Father, we confess there are times when we get caught up pursuing the things of this world

to put our trust in. As the psalmist reminds us, the chariots and horses of this world will

ultimately fail. On the other hand, you will never fail us when we call out to you. Help us

to pray with expectancy that you will hear us and grant us our requests. Also help us

continue to grow more like you, so the desires we have will be in alignment with your

will.

Heavenly Father, we pray that you would bring peace to Jerusalem and the conflicts Israel

is involved with. We ask that you bring peace to the war between Russia and Ukraine.

These are just two of the many areas in our world where conflict is causing great strife.

Please protect our brothers and sisters in Christ that are facing persecution because of their

belief in you. We ask that the good news of the gospel would continue to grow in these

areas, as well as places where the true church has become irrelevant.

We thank you for watching over N and C during the recent earthquake near them in

Southeast Asia. We ask you to bless the effectiveness of the relief efforts in the aftermath

of this quake. Help Christians to reach out and provide for the physical and spiritual needs

of people affected by this disaster. We pray for wisdom and strength for N, C, B and T as

they continue ministering for you in Asia.

Father, as summer approaches help us to be mindful of ways we can minister to neighbors

who like us, tend to hibernate in the winter. May we leave margin in our schedules to

spend time with them when they are outside. As we build relationships, help your light to

shine clearly so they can see the difference You make in our lives. Help us also to be

sensitive to the Spirit’s leading on when to share the great news of the sacrifice Jesus made

on our behalf. May we have the same desire that you have found in 2 Peter 3:9 – not

wanting anyone to perish, but all to come to repentance.

We pray this in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit….and all God’s people

said………Amen.
