Psalm 16
April 20, 2025 Father, Son, Holy Spirit
You make known to me the path of life;
In your presence there is fullness of joy;
At your right hand are pleasures forever more.
For many of us, these are wonderful words.
But not every day of our life feels like Easter celebration.
And Easter is not the wonderful celebration that it should be for many people.
Friday we grieved death.
We grieved deception.
We grieve that in our lives there are ways that we deny you as Lord and Savior.
Sometimes it feels like you are absent, like you are in the grave like Saturday.
Sometimes it feels like evil has triumphed over good. We wrestle with thoughts of doubt,
hopelessness, and temptation to run after the god of money, or put our hope in people,
or desire to escape. We all are drawn to the wide path that leads to destruction.
It is good for us to remember the grave. It is good for us to mourn your death. It is good
for us to hear our own voices chant “Crucify Him”. It was our sin that brought His
crucifixion.
But you did not stay in the grave. We celebrate that you have triumphed over the grave.
You, our Savior Jesus Christ are our perfect king. You died for our sins and you
conquered the grave.
We praise you for this path of life that you have created and you make known to us.
Revealed in the Bible, revealed in your creation, and shared in the body of Christ, Your
church. You lead us on the path of life. Thank you that you sent your Holy Spirit to guide
us and to dwell in us. For those of us that have received your wonderful Holy Spirit living
in us, may our lives be filled with joy and gratitude. May we show love to our world, and
share the hope and good news that we have, so that more may know your good news
and receive You; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit into their lives.
In your holy name we pray,
Amen
