Psalm 83

John Chamberlain   -

October 11, 2026 Heavenly Father, Son and Holy Spirit, thank you that we can come before you with raw emotion like Asaph and you are not offended. Asaph is understandably upset as he sees various people plot against your people Israel. He  doesn’t pull any punches about how he wanted you to respond. Praying for their complete destruction seems a bit harsh. So what is at the heart of his passionate request? We learn in verses 16 and 18 that Asaph’s desire is that men would seek your name and realize you alone are the Most High over all the earth.

In our day there can be many examples of how the world plots against moving your kingdom forward. The explosive increase in knowledge we have seen in the last decade alone can boggle the mind. It’s easy to see how having access to so much information at our fingertips can lead us to rely on technology rather than you. The blurring of the lines between absolute right and wrong in our day has led many people to an apathy toward the truth found in your word. In other cases this has led to approximately 400 million Christians being persecuted for their faith across 70 countries.

Father we pray for our brothers and sisters in North Korea, Somalia, Yemen, Sudan, and Eritrea where they are under intense persecution. We ask that you would protect them from harm and that they would continue to remain faithful to you. We pray that their persecutors would come to know you and understand that you are the Most High over all the earth. Help us also to remember you have the ultimate power and are the only one who can meet our every need.

Thank you for the summer that D and K had while back in the United States visiting supporting churches. We praise you they were able to handle their busy schedule and had fun along the way. We pray as they settle back into the normal rhythm of life and ministry that you would keep them healthy and productive. We also ask that you will help them to achieve being fully supported financially.

Finally, we lift up our Elders to you at this time. We pray the Holy Spirit would guide their conversations. You promise in James 1 to generously give wisdom to those who ask for it. We request this for our elders as they discern how to best utilize the tools we have to further your kingdom in our area.

We pray all of this in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit….and all God’s people said………Amen.
