Psalm 40
September 6, 2026 Lord we come to you this morning to worship. We worship you for being our creator and provider. You have multiplied the work of our hands and have given us much. We enjoy many wonderful gifts from you. Your creation of nature continually astounds us with incredible detail and breathtaking images from sunrise to sunset.
All too frequently we have to deal with death. Our hearts ache when people are killed and injured. We pray for the people of Minneapolis who were tragically impacted by death this week. Thank you for courageous responders that meet these threats head-on and risk their health and lives to protect and save others. Bring healing to the physical injuries. Bring healing to the emotional trauma. And bring healing spiritually to people’s souls to melt the hardened hearts of selfishness and destruction.
We pray for our friends at Northside Neighborhood Church in Minneapolis who lost their child at birth in the last week. Comfort this family through this difficult time. Strengthen their trust in you. And may you be glorified as they share the hope they have in you with those around them. We pray conversations would go deeper, give us courage and confidence to navigate painful conversations, and share your good news with many around us who are hurting.
We pray for Cheryl’s health and pray her next trip to Mayo will help bring resolution to her health complications.
We thank you for the Psalms that provide the words to nourish our souls and reveal the emotions of our hearts. Even though they were penned thousands of years ago, they continue to guide us as we mediate and pray. Lord we pray that your Holy Spirit would interpret these words into the language that not only our brain can understand, but the language that our heart needs to hear.
