Psalm 33
July 19, 2026 Shout for joy in the Lord, O you righteous! Praise befits the upright. Even though these psalms were written thousands of years ago, they are still as important today as the day they were written. You have revealed truth in giving us your laws. Psalm 33 says it is fitting that when we follow your law, we will praise you. Forgive us for redefining truth and making our own rules in rebellion to your law. Forgive us for striving to make our own identity, and glorify our self. We are in awe that Jesus came from Heaven to Earth and did not seek his own glory, but came to serve and seek the glory of the Father. We praise you God that Jesus’ atonement for our sin reconciled us to God and made us C.O.G., children of God. Our toil to bring glory to self does not sustain, and we grow weary and despair. We are thankful for the Bible that teaches and reminds us of your always and forever and never ending love for us that pursues us.
Thank you for EFCA Challenge Youth Conference this week and diving into how the Psalms are good news for our souls in the highs and lows of life. We pray that the messages penetrate into our hearts. May your Psalms nurture our hearts and minds and center our lives in your good news. When our hearts are low, and when we are being attacked, help us remember your faithfulness! Thank you for outreach activities, prayer walks, equipping labs, huddle time, and all of the fun time bonding together between. Restore and sustain us, as your word promises.
We praise You that Nathan’s heart procedure went well this week and that he was released to go home. Give him rest and build his energy. Sustain their family in their travels tomorrow. Thank you for the encouragement they bring to us, and their team, and their community.
Lord, we see disaster strike in wild fires in our state, and floods in our country, and earthquakes in our world. We are saddened and troubled. We see your beautiful creation destroyed. Verse 6-9 responds to the majesty of creation and commands us, Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. Psalm 33 addresses the spectrum of challenges we experience in the physical world of nature and man and politics, and the last five verses turn us to trust, and praise, and hope! Help us to meditate on Psalm 33 this week and see how this large spectrum of challenges we face, is no challenge to you God. You are faithful, and trustworthy, and we can put our hope in you!
