Psalm 76
June 14, 2026 O God of power and love and truth, you are known among the nations, and you are superior over the kingdoms of the earth. And yet our world is filled with many that deny any knowledge of you and live as though you are of no consequence to them.
Open our eyes that we may behold wonderous things out of your law.
Enlarge our hearts, remind us that no human strength can overcome Your wisdom,
no human force can silence Your justice, and that you are near. Remind us that your kingdom is established by your attributes, for you are compassionate and gracious, slow to anger overflowing with loyal love and faithfulness. And these are superior to all the empires, factions, and regimes that tempt us to trust them.
Every day we see news flowing across our phones and screens reminding us of the hatred and violence that is present not only in the hearts of others but also at times in us. Break the cycles of pride and arrogance that divide and give us the ability to overcome our weaknesses.
Teach us to seek you and your glory. Teach us to pursue understanding rather than suspicion.
Teach each of us to walk in humility, knowing that all we have is a gift from Your hand. And that You have our back. And even if you don’t that it is better for us to walk in integrity than to cozy up with perversions and corruption.
May the powerful remember that they are accountable,
and may the vulnerable know that they are not forgotten.
Let justice flow through our institutions, and let mercy guide our actions,
and truth shape our words.
Where there is conflict, bring reconciliation and resolutions.
Where there is oppression, bring freedom.
Where there is anxiety, bring confidence in Your presence.
As we bring our prayers before you this morning, we know there are many Centennial family needs. As Steve and Jeanette continue to grieve bring them comfort in the loss of their son. Tim and others are recovering from injuries. And others other have aches and pains from long term health because of aging bodies. We also pray for those needing mental and emotional healing because of unhealthy interpersonal personal interactions. Let your hand be ready to help in each of the needs in our congregation.
We also specifically want to come before you on behalf of B and T as they work and live abroad and have recently moved into a larger apartment to accommodate a growing family. Help their boys make the adjustment and grow to embrace these big changes. And we ask your blessing on B and T in their training and encouragement for them as they try to provide a good foundation for their friends in the community.
May our lives become offerings of gratitude,
and may we honor You in all we do and say.
We pray these things today, Amen.
