Psalm 73
May 24, 2026 Our Father, thank You for Your Word, which is so timeless, trustworthy, and precious. Thank You for the reminders and encouragement that we find on each page.
Some of us this morning can likely relate with the wrestling of this psalmist’s heart as we look out at the world around us and see the wicked and arrogant prospering, as we hear Your Word mocked and unbelievers boasting that they understand the world more clearly. We also can be tempted to wonder if we’ve followed you in vain, if the culture around us is right after all, if You can indeed be trusted.
But Your Word, Your sanctuary, Your people, and Your work throughout history remind us that Your commands are indeed trustworthy, that eternity is waiting, that You are our portion and our good, and there is nothing we desire besides You. Thank You, Lord, for not leaving us in our blindness and rebellion but opening our eyes to who You are.
We pray this morning for those we love whose hearts have been drawn away from You and who are following lies—whether that is children who have walked away from the faith, or parents, or other relatives and friends close to us. God, would you show them their destiny? Would You open their eyes to Your goodness and truth? Would you show yourself to be their refuge, their strength, their portion, just as You have shown Yourself to be for us?
We pray that You would put an end to the arrogance of wicked rulers, to the threats and oppression of those who set themselves against Heaven and against Your people. Protect Your children who are persecuted, enslaved, and mistreated. Guide us by Your counsel as we seek to follow You, and help us to live as if You are our portion and Your presence is our greatest good. In doing so, may we cause those around us to ask us about the source of our hope, and may we tell them boldly about You.
As we near the end of a school year, we pray for our families in transition. For You to guide our graduates as they begin a new season of life. For families with kids as they adjust to summer schedule and seek to balance fun activities and rest. For teens who find themselves with extra time over the summer and want to use it well. For parents juggling work alongside kids at home more. For all of us who may see our neighbors more as the weather warms and might have more opportunities for relationship and conversation. May all of us continue to prioritize being present with our families, with You, and with Your people here. May the way we use our time this summer honor You and bless those around us.
