Psalm 72
May 17, 2026 Heavenly Father, Son and Holy Spirit, Thank you for the glimpse we see in today’s Psalm of what it will look like in the future when you reign with complete justice and righteousness. The psalmist instructs us you will care for the needy and the oppressed because they are precious in your eyes. Teach us from this example how to care for people in our present day. We confess that often times we don’t see the needs of people because of the pace of our lives. May we be attentive to people that need our help and view them as precious because that’s how you view them.
Father, we are thankful for the refreshment you can bring to our lives if we call on your name. We see a couple of illustrations of life giving water drawing our attention to how you allow us to flourish and live at peace when we are pursuing you. Help us to remember it is important to have an attitude of continual praise to you because you deserve it.
The psalmist tells us your name will endure and your fame will continue as long as the sun and the moon through all generations. Well, here we are two thousand years after you walked on the earth and the name of Jesus has endured for all time. Today, when it seems like some people would rather forget about you, help us to continue to glorify your name for all the wonderous things you alone have done.
We look forward to the day when all of the kings of the earth will bow down and serve you. When all of the nations will be blessed because of your righteous rule. Thank you that we can rely on the truths found in this psalm and also for the realistic hope we have knowing eventually King Jesus will rule on earth!
Unfortunately, we know that day is not here yet. We ask that you would bring an end to the massacre of our Christian brothers and sisters in Northern Nigeria. Their fear has increased drastically as the violence against them continues to rise. Please protect them and help them to come up with successful ways to minister to the hundreds of widows who find themselves without their husbands.
Father, we thank you for providing for B & T in SE Asia. Thank you that T’s pregnancy has been moving along well. We lift up the continued growth of Mr. L and Uncle D and the chance they have to reach others. May you bless them with more opportunities and give B the strength he needs as he gets ready for a big concert coming up.
We pray all of this in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit….and all God’s people said………Amen.
