Psalm 70
May 3, 2026 Father, as we gather this morning and hear David’s plea in this Psalm for you to act in haste, we recognize that his circumstances were far different from ours. He cried out for rescue from those seeking his life. And though our situations may not compare, many of us come with the same urgency, asking you to move quickly on our behalf.
In our daily lives, we face things that distress us, trouble us, and stir anxiety within us. Some carry heavy financial burdens; others face crises in relationships or struggles with their health. And many of these conditions have troubled or encumbered us for a long time, even years. Today we are specifically highlighting Mike H. having surgery again on Tuesday. As we pray together, take hold of the things that grip us and constrict our lives—those things that rob us of the fullness of living in your presence.
Though we are needy, let us find our confidence in you. Be our defender against all that opposes us and seeks our harm.
As we think towards the future here at Centennial, may we listen and work together well to discern and build a strong community. Help us use the Centennial survey to prompt further conversations and discussions towards changes that glorify you in our community.
Draw us closer to you. Teach us to seek you with attentive hearts. Move us from tentative and broken connection into lives that are yielded, genuine, and deeply rooted in you—connections that produce confidence and help us navigate the complexities before us. Lift our eyes above the problems directly in front of us.
And with David, we will declare:
May all who love your salvation say continually, “God is great!”
You are supreme—unmatched, unbounded, and unrivaled—greater than anything we could imagine or create.
Thank you for all you have done for us, at great cost to yourself, removing every obstacle that keeps us from coming near to you.
Teach us to keep you at the center of our lives. You are faithful and true, worthy of all our praise. The goodness of Your river never runs dry; your blessings flow to all the earth.
You are our help, O Lord—do not delay.
Meet us in our needs this day, Amen.
