Psalm 56

Greg Kvamme   -

January 25, 2026 Oh Lord we pray. We can’t overstate how important the Psalms are in strengthening our trust in you, and comforting our souls in the midst of massive strife in our city. Many people have been trampled upon, and live in fear. Verse 3 and 4 encourages us that when I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?

Lord forgive us for not being slow to speak and quick to listen. Increase our prayers and meditation on scripture to guard our hearts to not be provoked to sin in the way that numerous parties are disparaging other people. We confess that none of us are perfect or without sin, forgive us when we were too quick to judge. Forgive us for vilifying other people and failing to see how our actions or lack of actions contributed. Help us to search our own hearts, and may we have compassion on those around us. Help us to see the other side of the story and more importantly to see how You see. We pour out our hearts and we work to put our trust in You.

Psalm 56

Thank you for delivering David when his enemies were trampling on him. Thank you for delivering David’s greater Son, Jesus Christ, when his enemies trampled on him. Help your people in harm’s way, and us who are more distant from that harm, to follow our suffering and risen King as we seek to reflect his light amid the growing darkness.

Amen
