Psalm 47

John Chamberlain   -

November 23, 2025 Heavenly Father, Son and Holy Spirit, how fitting it is that we lifted our voices in praise to you today! Our psalm today is a great reminder of the many reasons we have to lift your name and sing praises along with shouts of joy to you. In a similar way that we cheer for our favorite sports team or get excited when our children perform on stage without making a mistake, we should be expressing that same enthusiasm for the chance to follow you. We are reminded in verses 2 and 7 that you are ruler of ALL the earth. How awesome is that? Help us to remember that when we hear or read the news of the day. The world around us is a complex maze of many rulers thinking they are in control. Yet, we know from verse 9 that you have the ultimate authority over every single ruler.

Heavenly Father, we do want to pray for the rulers you have placed in authority. We pray that they would be led by your Holy Spirit to make decisions that will honor you. We know there are many places in our world where this is not happening. We pray for a change of heart among the people and the rulers. Please turn them back to you, so they submit to your ultimate kingship. Likewise, help each of us to submit to your ruling in our lives, so we may experience the joy and praise that can bring.

Heavenly Father, we thank and praise you for the good news we heard this week about D and K being fully funded. We know this takes a heavy weight off their shoulders. We ask that you keep them healthy, along with their team, during this time of the year when the cold and flu bug hits the hardest. We also pray that you provide energy, guidance and discernment as their team works on the tasks before them.

Finally Father as we head into this week of Thanksgiving, bring to mind all of reasons we have to be thankful. Help us to take time to remember the ways you have guided and provided for us is this past year. May we remember the opportunities and blessings come from you. During times of difficulty or stress, help us to remember how you came along side us through the encouraging word of a friend, or financial assistance when we needed it. Most of all, we thank you for the gift of your son Jesus, and his willingness to give up his life for us. Help us to be thankful for the promise that one day we will get to see you face to face!

We pray these things in grateful praise to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit….and all God’s people said………Amen.
