Psalm 35
September 7, 2025 Assert yourself, O Lord, work on our behalf.
Although we live comfortable suburban lives, many of us feel aspects of our lives crumbling away at the edges.
Take care of us. Sustain and hold us, O Lord, for you are very great.
Say to our souls, “I am with you.”
You have seen the things that go on in our world.
You know about Minnesota’s elected officials who were ambushed just a few short months ago.
You know that across town from us unsuspecting school children were shot during a chapel service.
You know the injustice of perpetrators and victims of unspeakable sexual exploitations that we continue to hear about in the news.
You know our physical aches and pains and you empathize with our griefs.
Let your ways be done in our midst.
Let your right hand be ready to help us.
Let us not be downtrodden by those with power and authority.
Let us experience your generous love.
Let us not be overcome by the economics pressures of our world.
Let us not be overwhelmed by the temptations all around us.
Let those intent to steal, kill and destroy be brought to justice.
Expose those who deliberately and routinely harm others.
Relieve and alleviate the victims of exploitation.
And give us glimpses of how we can participate in doing this with you
Let those who live virtuous lives thrive and flourish.
Lord, we plead with you to help the vulnerable and those living in fear, that you would turn back those who seek our harm.
O Lord who is like you?
You told us – “The words I have spoken to you are spirit and life.”
You even call those who abide with you, your friends.
Be not far from us, … as we pause listening for your cherished voice.
Be not silent O Lord. For the world we live in is corrupt.
Stand by our side.
Though we continually ask You to act on our behalf, help us to trust You more than the outcomes You provide.
We pray this in the name of Jesus, our risen Lord. Amen
