Psalm 32

Jennifer Kvamme   -

June 1, 2025 Father, we rejoice like the psalmist that we are forgiven, that our sins have been covered by the blood of Your Son. You don’t charge them against us. What freedom, what joy.

And yet you ask us not to conceal or ignore our sin but to confess it to you. We know that repentance—not self-righteousness—is the call on us as your people. And so today we, like David, acknowledge our sin. Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name.

Thank You that You are faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, that You draw us near to You. You love us with an everlasting love. You counsel us and direct us as You watch over us. Give us hearts that are sensitive to Your Spirit’s leading, not stubborn in our own ways but quick to turn when You lead us. After all, Lord, You are our Hiding Place, the Rock of our lives, our only safety in a world that can feel overwhelming and discouraging at times.

We lift up our friends, neighbors, and family members who do not know You personally, Lord. They are facing an overwhelming and discouraging world without You as their Refuge. We pray that You be softening hearts so that they are ready to hear Your good news, and that You prepare us as Your people to look for those opportunities and to be ready to give an answer for the hope we have in You.

We also pray for those in our world who are living in war zones, facing fear and evil on a daily basis. We think of Gaza, of Ukraine, of Syria and Sudan and Myanmar, and other places we may not even know about, but You do, Father. We pray for protection, for peace, for wisdom and integrity for these nations’ leaders, and for Your church to multiply in these dark places.

This week, Father, as we live in repentance and look to You for our forgiveness, guidance, and safety, may we find the great delight and joy that this psalm speaks of—joy in You as Forgiver, as Guide, and as Deliverer. We as this in the name of Jesus, and all God’s people said, Amen.
