Psalm 15
April 13, 2025 Heavenly Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
David starts out this psalm by asking a question he most likely already knows the answer to.
He understands we are all sinners and fall short of your glory. And yet, we long long to
live in your presence. On this Palm Sunday, we remember the excitement surrounding the
first time it was celebrated. People mistakenly thought your kingdom was on the eve of
arriving. Even though they didn’t fully understand what was about to happen, they wanted
to be with you when your kingdom was established. No doubt, many people just wanted to
be relieved from the burden of the Roman government. But there were also many people
who saw that you were different….truly the Son of God.
Since we have a clearer understanding today of your mission and future reign on earth, we
can listen more intently to the roadmap David shares about how we are to live our lives on
earth. We understand this side of heaven, it is impossible to fully achieve what David
describes, but these characteristics are still worthwhile pursuits. When we share the truth
of your word to people, help them to believe it because they see it truly has made a
difference in the way we live our lives.
Father, may we respect our neighbors and people around us because we understand all
people have been created by you and have value. It’s so easy in our society to show
misguided honor to professional athletes, celebrities and movie stars. After all, they are
the ones that seem to be on top of the world. However, David rightly instructs us to show
honor to those who have a healthy reverence for You. Guide us in ways we can honor
people that we know are totally devoted to you. Help us to keep our word and not waste
time talking poorly about people around us.
Our desire is to continue to grow in our faith as we work on the areas David outlined in
this Psalm. Even though we often stumble on the path, remind us that the roots of our faith
will grow deep. When the storms of this world hit, we will not be shaken as we continue
to follow You.
Heavenly Father, we would like to bring before you the 10 students and 5 adults attending
the District Blitz up in Duluth. We pray you will continue to build the unity in our group as
they study, worship and serve You when they return home. We pray you would keep them
safe on the way home this afternoon.
Finally Father, as we head into Holy week, we pray for boldness when we interact with
people. Help us to explain why this is such a meaningful time, remembering the ultimate
sacrifice Jesus was willing to do for us.
For it’s in the name of Jesus, our sacrificial lamb we pray, And all God’s people
said………Amen.
