Our Psalm reading this morning is from Psalm 100. A Psalm for giving thanks.

Our Father, we come to you this morning with so much to be grateful for. We are thankful to be Your people, the flock under Your care. You are our Shepherd, our Provider, our Protector, and the Giver of every good and perfect gift. So we do come this morning, Father, with praise and with thanksgiving.

Thank You for abundantly providing all of our needs and giving us, in turn, abundance that we can share with others. Thank you also for the times of scarcity that remind us to look to You and not ourselves.

Thank You for the joy of family, friends, and community to do life with together. Thank You also for the times when we are alone and we know You as our closest Friend.

Thank You for protecting us from harm and watching over our lives. Thank You also that when we have to grieve the loss of someone we love, we know death is not the end.

Thank you for the many freedoms we enjoy. And thank You also for the limits on our lives that remind us we are servants in a world subject to frustration.

Thank You for being our Guide who leads and directs us in all wisdom. Thank You also that when we do not know what to do, we can keep our eyes on You.

Thank You for our health, Father. Thank You also for the times our weakness shows off Your strength and causes us to look forward to our perfect home.

Thank You for the good work that You are doing in our lives, making us more like You in holiness and righteousness. Thank You also that when our sin abounds, grace abounds all the more.

Lord, You are good. You are worthy of praise and of trust when Your gifts flow and when it seems they don’t.

Your steadfast love truly endures forever and Your faithfulness continues to all generations. We pray that the nations around us might know Your love and the generations to follow us might know Your faithfulness. Thank You that, whatever other gifts we receive from You, we have the gift of Yourself, and that is our greatest treasure.

We pray all this in the name of Jesus, and all God’s people said, Amen.
