Psalm 3

Heavenly Father, Son and Holy Spirit,

Thank you for your living word that brings meaning and instruction to our daily lives. In our psalm today, we see the openness of your servant David.  He cries out to you in honesty about the pressures he is feeling when he is on the run from his own son, who wants to take control of the kingdom. Yet in the midst of his dire situation, he has complete confidence in your protection.  The fact that he is able to lie down and sleep when he is running for his life is nothing short of miraculous. How was David able to do this?  How are WE able to do this?  Even though the pressures we encounter may not rise to the level of fearing for our lives, we can still be overwhelmed at times with what we are faced with.

Help us to learn from the example of David.  Almost every other verse in this psalm shows us that David’s peace did not come from within himself.  He was leaning on You for his protection and deliverance.  He had ultimate confidence in your power and strength.  May your Spirit continue to remind us that same power is available to us today.  Only You can bring peace in the storms of life.  As You continue to work in our lives, help us to better understand of the love You have for us, the protection that You offer and the rest that can be ours when we fully yield the control of our lives over to You.

Father, we want to remember the ministry of our Global partners D, K, D and E H.  We thank you for their willingness to serve you.  We pray for their follow-up team which engages people in conversations. Help these meetings lead to a better understanding of who Jesus is and why he came.  May You draw many people to yourself with the truth that is shared in these encounters. We pray for a hedge of protection around their family. Please keep them physically, emotionally and spiritually healthy.  We ask that You would comfort K as she continues to mourn the loss of her brother. Please meet her needs and help her to find rest in You.

Finally Father, we are grateful for the freedom we have in the United States to worship You. At the same it is painfully clear that unlike David, our dependence has turned away from You.  May we head the words found in 2nd Chronicles.  Help our nation to humble itself, pray, seek your face and turn from our wicked ways.  May that start with each and every one of us here today.

For it’s in of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit we pray….. and all God’s people said……Amen.
