Psalm 82

For thousands of years, mankind has not been kind. History repeats itself, man rebels against creator God. We confess that we have not loved others as we have loved ourselves. We serve the interest of self, instead of others. We are have been deceived into thinking temporary pleasures for ourselves are more valuable, at the cost denying justice to the poor and less powerful. Lord rend our hard selfish hearts. This week we celebrated our independence from an oppressive, over-reaching government, but we are reminded that we are far from perfect. We mourn that we still oppress and unjustly judge people based on their outward appearance instead of who they are. All men and women are created in the image of God, all people are worthy of honor and fair treatment. Help us to see that more clearly every day. This passage commands those in power to not only treat the weak fairly, but give them justice. This passage pleads for rescue.

We celebrate the work being done through EFCA Global Freedom, Global Fingerprints, Reach Network, Global Equipping, Prepared, All People, Reach Students, Gateway, Apex, and more. Move our hearts to pray, support, and become involved in these initiatives that bring the good news of the gospel into the numerous aspects of our world. Thank you for the 3,000+ students that attended Challenge this week and were exposed to more. More culture, more worship, more preaching, more good news, more relationships, more joy, more peace, there is more. Thank you that these youth groups shared the experience together and can support one another as they are sent home and sent out with the good news that we know Christ and share Him with others.

Lord we pray for our family here at Centennial. Thank you that you are faithful no matter what are circumstances. Thank you that you are present in our lives and in our relationships. Thank you for sending Jesus Christ to live the perfect life that we could never live, and die the death that we deserve, so that we can know the incredible depth of how much you love us. Amen.
