Psalm 118

Father, Son, Holy Spirit, you are good, thank you that your love endures forever. Your love does not fade. Your love is not slightly less than it was yesterday. It endures. This psalm speaks to our distress, to being surrounded and attacked from all sides. This psalm tells us it is better to take refuge in the Lord, than to trust in man or princes. Only you Lord will truly deliver us. Your love endures all things and sustains us and strengthens us. Thank you that your love endures forever.

We pray for the Youth Group, and the thousands of other students at District/Blitz this weekend in Duluth. We pray that connections and friendships would increase. We pray for the large group time and the small group time, and the car time, and the meal time, and the in between time. May these students be immersed in your presence and be loved. We pray that your Holy Spirit would speak to this generation the way you have spoken to our generation. Our culture is continually being shaped by us and we are being shaped by culture, but your steadfast love endures forever. We humans change, but you God are unchanged and love us steadfastly.

We pray for K. and the unknown plague to her nervous system. Thank you for medication to ease the symptoms, and we pray for healing. We pray you would give her family endurance through this.

We pray for U. and R. We pray for war to cease. We pray against the kingdom of R. We pray against the kingdom of U. We pray against our own kingdom that places anyone other than Christ as the true king. We pray for the kingdom of Christ to come. We pray for your perfect kingdom, because You are the perfect ruler. Jesus has conquered sin and death, through laying down His life on the cross for others. And we are called to die to ourselves, take up our own cross, and follow the example of Christ.

In spite of our deepest challenges and distresses, this psalm continues to turn our hearts to trust in the Lord in very specific circumstances and in all circumstances. Earthly promises have failed us, but your love endures forever. Thank you. Amen.
