The Edge is CEFC’s ministry for middle school and high school students.
We love students. And we believe in equipping all students with a passion for God, a knowledge of His Word, a heart for service, deep Christian friendships, and the training they need to be leaders in their schools and churches. There are a variety of opportunities for students to be involved in our ministries.
Wednesday Nights
The Edge meets from 6:30-8:00 every Wednesday night. A normal Wednesday night includes worship, teaching from the Word, and a time of discussion in small groups. Students are invited to come at 5:30 for a time of prayer or 6:00 for a chance to hang out and play games beforehand. Outreaches and special events are planned throughout the year.
Disciplemaking Relationships

We believe the most effective conduit of ministry is relationships. Our adult leaders love to meet with students individually or in small groups to study Scripture or another book together or just to talk about life. We’d love to get all our students connected in this kind of mentoring relationship! Talk to any leader if you’re interested.
Big Events
Each year, we plan a series of retreats and other events that offer students a unique chance to build lifelong relationships while learning, serving, and growing together. Download our big events flyer or check them out below:
Rockin’ Fall Weekend: Sept. 23-25, 2011
Join us for an adventure! We’re headed to Taylors Falls, where we’ll camp, rock climb, hike, canoe, and enjoy alpine slides and go-karts. This trip is all about building relationships, and it’s a great opportunity for you to connect a friend with our group!
Cost: $65 ($50 with a friend)
Ministry Team Retreat: Jan. 20-22, 2012
One of our values is building into leaders. The Edge has a student ministry team (grades 8–12) as well as a team of volunteer adult leaders, and once a year we have a retreat for training, planning, evaluating, praying, and playing together.
Cost: Free (for ministry team).
30-Hour Famine: March 2-3, 2012
Can you go without food for 30 hours? Much of the world does because they can’t afford it. You can choose to go without and, in doing so, help feed hungry kids, serve your community, and have a lot of fun together!
Cost: free!
District Blitz: Apr. 27-29, 2012
This is the favorite weekend of the year at The Edge! Join us for a road trip to Rochester for the annual district conference, where we’ll worship, learn from great speakers and seminar leaders, and have a blast hanging out together.
Cost: $80
Mission: Harvest Chicago:Details TBD
This trip is back by popular demand! Our middle schoolers will once again be headed to Chicago to work alongside The Rock Church as they host their community carnival. It’s a great experience in cross-cultural ministry not that far from home, and our students had a blast last summer! (Middle school only)
Challenge’12: New Orleans: first week of July, details TBD
It’s a life-changing conference. It’s an urban mission trip. It’s a chance for our high schoolers to serve some ministries reaching out to the New Orleans area for a week while we also get to learn from great teachers and worship with thousands of other students. We’re really excited about the opportunities this trip will offer!. (High school only)
