The Edge is CEFC’s ministry for middle school and high school students.

We love students. And we believe in equipping all students with a passion for God, a knowledge of His Word, a heart for service, deep Christian friendships, and the training they need to be leaders in their schools and churches. There are a variety of opportunities for students to be involved in our ministries.

Wednesday Nights

The Edge meets from 6:30-8:00 every Wednesday night. A normal Wednesday night includes worship, teaching from the Word, and a time of discussion in small groups. Students are invited to come at 5:30 for a time of prayer or 6:00 for a chance to hang out and play games beforehand. Outreaches and special events are planned throughout the year.

Growth Groups

Growth groups for girls and guys meet during the week, offering a chance to deepen relationships and dig into the Word together. Contact us to find out the time and place these groups meet.

Big Events

Each year, we plan a series of retreats and other events that offer students a unique chance to build lifelong relationships while learning, serving, and growing together. Download our big events flyer or check them out below:

RFWRockin’ Fall Weekend: Sept. 10-12, 2010
Join us for a weekend in Duluth, where we’ll camp, rock climb, hike, spend time around the campfire, and build
relationships. It’s a great opportunity for you to invite a friend who may not be interested in church!

Prayer Room: Sept. 19-23, 2010
When you think of “prayer,” do you think “boring”? You won’t after this weekend! Come experience God through prayer in a way you maybe never have before. Each evening this week, CEFC will be open for prayer, and there will be 8 hands-on prayer stations, based on the 8 beatitudes, to help you connect with God in a fresh way.

Ministry Team Retreat: Dec. 3-5, 2010
One of our values is building into leaders. The Edge has a student ministry team (grades 8-12) as well as a team of volunteer adult leaders, and once a year we have a retreat for training, planning, evaluating, praying, and playing together.

30-Hour Famine: Feb. 18-19, 2011
Do you know what it’s like to go hungry? Join us for this weekend and experience a “taste” of what thousands of kids around the world suffer daily… and in the process, serve your community and raise money to feed hungry children around the world!

District Blitz: Apr. 1-3, 2011
This is the favorite weekend of the year at The Edge! Join us for a road trip to Duluth for the annual district conference, where we’ll worship, learn from great speakers and seminar leaders, and just have a ton of fun as a youth group!

Open Door Haiti: Aug. 3-10, 2011
Haiti is the poorest country in the western hemisphere… and one of our neighbors. Christ called us to love our neighbors, serve the poor, and reach the lost. In August, The Edge will be flying to Cap Haitian, Haiti, to work alongside Open Door Haiti, a church which God is already using to do some great things in Haiti. (They have a school, food ministry, and youth ministry training program, and are working on building an orphanage and widows’ village.) Through a combination of relational ministry and work projects, we’ll serve this ministry and leave with a bigger understanding of what God is doing in a country very different from our own. (High school only)

Mission: Chicago: Dates TBA
You can experience real cross-cultural ministry (and real poverty) right in our own country, too… and in 2011 The Edge will be bringing middle schoolers to Chicago to serve alongside an urban church who is actively reaching their community. You’ll learn a lot about missions, justice issues, and our call as Christians in this world… and we bet you’ll leave excited about the opportunities we have to make a difference! (Middle school only)
