Good Friday: The Day Death Died
March 17, 2010 by admin
For many people, the death of Jesus on a dark Friday afternoon 2,000 years ago is only an example to us of how a good man dies. And certainly it is this. But it certainly is not only this.
When Paul says in Romans 5 “through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous,” he is expressing this profound truth that death died when Christ died. Our eternity rests on the events of that afternoon when our death was conquered through the death of God’s Son in our place.
Please plan to join us on Good Friday, April 2nd, at 7:00 p.m. for a time of worship, reflection, and communion. We will experience both the darkness and grief of this day along with the peace and hope that this day brings.
30 Hour Famine Update
March 11, 2010 by admin
Last month was our annual 30-Hour Famine, in which students chose to go 30 hours without food in order to get a “taste” of hunger and raise money for hungry children in earthquake-devastated Haiti. Our 21 participants raised about $1150 for World Vision, packed 32 boxes of meals at Feed My Starving Children (about 1200 6-serving meals), and helped the Larson family clean up their recently-burned-down barn. Thanks to all of you who supported this cause!
God-Dependent Parenting
March 3, 2010 by admin
Whether you are a parent of a preschooler or high schooler… you will benefit from the training you will receive at the “God-Dependent Parenting” workshop. God dependent parenting helps potential parents, parents of young children and parents of teenagers gain a perspective on the uniqueness of each disciplemaking family. We’ll learn skills on how to support one another in the parenting adventure. And you’ll leave encouraged!
Our trainers are Dave & Rennie Garda of Cadre Ministries, who have served in ministry for more than 30 years, are the parents of two adult children, and actively disicple their 5-year-old grandson, Tyler.
Like all Cadre training, this workshop is highly interactive and will cover topics like:
- Helping your family flourish in all of its uniqueness
- Biblical help for real-world parents
